Vinayaka Chavithi Patri

*** Happy Vinayaka Chavithi to All *** 

As per Hindu calender today is my birth day! Happy to be born on the day of Vinayaka Chavithi, and glad I am named after Lord Ganapathi. The best things I love on this festival are,

1. Collecting Patri for Vinayaka Pooja: Had it been I am at home today, I would have got it by morning 6:30 itself. The best moments to remember for lifetime are going with my brother to farm to get patri.

2. Preparing Palavelli: Starting from washing it in "cheruvu", and decorating it along with dad and brother with all the patri, flowers and fruits (especially the lotus flowers) we get.

3. Food: Obviously, I don't know how much Ganesha likes the food we prepare for him, but I just love it. Kudumulu, Pala Talakalu.. Missing now.

Okay coming back to the Patri details, I actually thought of writing about it, because most of us slowly forgetting them, and I am afraid after few years, we may hear the question "what is patri?". So better answer it now.. I am giving the English/Scientific names as well so that we know what is called in Telugu later :).
